Amateur Radio Exam Announcement – Nittany Amateur Radio Club

The Nittany Amateur Radio Club is conducting Ham Exams on Saturday, May 1 in State College, PA. Space is limited due to the pandemic. Advance reservations are required, so please register as soon as possible to insure you will have one of the available spaces.

Special procedures will be in place to ensure compliance with state regulations concerning public groupings. Social distancing rules will be strictly enforced. All candidates must wear a face mask and will be required to sanitize their hands upon entering the exam room. All tables and chairs will be sanitized before use. Candidates under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Special procedures will be in place to insure minimum personal contact with any paperwork. To that end, sanitized exam papers, pencils, and pens will be provided for the candidates.

To enter the exam room, you must wear a face mask, and you must sanitize your hands at the sanitize station upon entering the room. You will be directed where to sit by the exam clerk. All paperwork required will be provided by the exam staff. You may bring a simple calculator to the exam, but you will be required to clean it with sanitizer. You will need to bring two forms of ID with you; one must be a photo ID. You may not bring anything else to the exam room.

  1. Name as it is to appear on your license
  2. Mailing address complete with zip code
  3. Your current call sign if you have one
  4. Your Federal Registration Number (FRN) or your social security number
  5. Daytime phone number
  6. Email address
  7. Answer this question – Have you ever been convicted of a state or federal felony?
  8. What class of exam are you taking? (Technician, General, Extra)

You must send payment via PayPal at time of registration. The total test fee is $14 regardless of the class of exam. In the unlikely event you should fail, you may take the exam a second time for an additional $14 test fee. Send the test fee via PayPal to eeb3568@gmail.com. State that the money transfer is for personal use, not business sales. You do not want to pay sales tax on the exam fee. If you can not do PayPal, please contact me for special payment arrangements.

The exam location is at the Holiday Inn Express in State College. First appointments will start at 9:00 am. Remember, seating is limited, so sign up early to ensure you get a reservation.
