On Saturday, December 6th, from 1000 to 1100 Centre County ARES in cooperation with the National Weather Service Office in State College (NWS CTP) conduced a drill testing communications for weather events. Both the VHF/UHF stations at NWS CTP (WX3CTP) and the Centre County Emergency Operations Centre (CCEOC) were activated by Greg, K3HOT, and Carmine, K3CWP. Check ins with weather reports from a number of locations and stations were conducted.
At the CCEOC station received reports from seven different counties by thirty eight different anateur stations. WX3CTP received nineteen stations checking in from seven counties. These included the K3HOT UHF link to the 145.110 repeater in Dauphin County.
NWS CTP operation also led to information on repeaters that provided links into Ebensburg in Cambria County.
Our thanks to the National Weather Service and the Centre County Emergency Management Agency for cooperating in this drill. Especially since the National Weather Service canceled Skywarn Recognition Day on a national level.
Thanks to all those stations who took time out of their day to participate in the drill.
