Spring S.E.T.

Quickly aproaching is our anual WPA Spring S.E.T. to take place on April 3, 2021 for 9:30 am until 12:30 pm. Although plans for the S.E.T. are still forthcoming. I can share that the S.E.T. will be based around Ice dams in local streams. Based on that, I am offering the following training opportunities.

River – Ice Observer Class

If You would like to take the River – Ice Observer Class , you can take it at your leisure , Thanks to the N W S Cleveland Office Recording It, You can take the class by clicking on the Blue link below . It only takes 40 minutes. After you complete the class, please email me at k3cwp@arrl.net to let me know, so that i can forward your information to the NWS State College, Cleveland Ohio and Pittsburgh Pa offices, you will then receive your certificate and they will send you a registration form to register with their respective offices as a trained River – Ice Observer .

SkyWarn Spotter Training-Basic

The NWS Pittsburgh(PBZ) will be putting on the following 2 SkyWarn – Basic online classes. you must pre-register to participate in these classes. Please follow the link below to register.

SkyWarn Spotter training – Advanced

Prerequisite for this call is the SkyWarn – Basic Class
The following online class is available. After watching the following link please email me at k3cwp@arrl.net and let me know that you have completed the course and your Skywarn spotter training number (if any), so that i can forward your information to the NWS State College, Cleveland Ohio and Pittsburgh Pa offices , you will then receive your certificate and they will send you a certificate of completion. This is a take at your leisure course.

We want to ensure the safety and effectiveness of our Skywarn spotters while in the field providing reports. As many of you know, collecting and providing accurate information to the National Weather Service is imperative, so that they may properly inform the general public. It is also important to us that you are safe while working in otherwise uncertain conditions. Thankfully the National Weather Service has provided a guide for field operations as a weather spotter.
