Centre County Amateurs Participate in Skywarn Recognition Day

Skywarn Recognition Day 2017 was scheduled for Saturday December 2.  Matt, K3RMS and Carmine, K3CWP arranged for participation starting about 14:00 UTC.  Matt is an employee of the National Weather Service at State College, WX3CTP, and Carmine activated his HF station at home.  The NWS station is VHF only.  Click the link to see the stations worked.

Matt contacted the following stations and received WX reports from them:

K3CWP – State College
K3EHQ – Howard
K3RBH – N. Atherton St.
W3DLD – Phillipsburg
KB1BH – Bellefonte
W3EDP – Graysdale
KC3HIP – University Park campus

Carmine contacted the following NWS stations on 40 meters:

WX9ILX / Lincoln, IL
WX9MKX / Milwaukee, WI
WX1BHO / Milton, MA
WX4RNK / Blacksburg, VA
WX8GRR / Grand Rapids, MI
WX8APX / Gaylord MI
WX9IWX / Northern Indiana

Though the local drill was over at 15:00 UTC it was successful in that we activated NWS and contacted multiple NWS Stations.
